Peak bloom is here!

Strolling through the 40 acres of landscaped gardens is a springtime tradition in Shreveport. More than 15,000 plants, including about 100 different varieties of native and hybrid azaleas, create a tapestry of color over the grounds’ hills and valleys and along its streams.

The grounds also are home to a variety of Japanese maples, camellias, grancy greybeards, dogwoods, loropetalums and flowers like peonies, snapdragons and pansies.

Gallery staff say the azaleas should be in peak bloom through Easter, so you have several days to plan your visit. Just remember, no photography is allowed in the gardens.

Address: 4747 Creswell Ave., Shreveport. Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Admission: free.
