Eight Shreveport gardens will be featured May 2-3 on the 2015 Northwest Louisiana Master Gardener Le Tour des Jardins.

Here’s a photo glimpse of the garden of Ben and Rhonda Tullos, the 2015 Professional Design Featured Garden, at 3025 Nottingham Drive, Shreveport, and a Rhonda’s comments on the garden::

“My yard is displaying the work of professional landscape architect Scott Crane with Flemings Landscape. Our landscape was completed in November 2014, so this is a very young project. I have always had influences from a very young age to have and maintain a ‘welcoming’ and ‘at home’ feeling to our yard. And, being from Mississippi, a very Southern feel. When visiting with Scott about what we wanted, we requested a lot of very familiar Southern plantings such as azaleas, hydrangeas, sweet olive, dogwood trees, redbud trees and crape myrtles. One very specific request was mimosa trees, which I’m under the impression might be a junk tree! Nevertheless, I have three of them. We also did not want a yard that required constant maintenance. Scott introduced me to Drift roses, which will add a lot of color to the beds with no annual planting. As I said, this yard is just getting started, but is definitely ‘welcoming.'”.
