Green Thumb Seminar

The American Rose Society and Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners will host their fourth and final Green Thumb Seminar of 2017 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Gardens of the American Rose Center, 8877 Jefferson Paige Road, Shreveport. The schedule:

  • 9 a.m.: “Isn’t Beauty Enough?” — a talk about building your own pollinator garden by Mike Livingston, the Master Gardener in charge of the Randle T. Moore Center butterfly/pollinator garden.:
  • 10 a.m.: “Setting Up a Beehive in Your Garden” — Loice Kendrick Lacy, author, speaker and director of the Louisiana Butterfly Festival, Haynesville.
  • 10:50 a.m.: “Monarchs and Milkweed — If You Plant It, They Will Come!” — Dr. Malcom Vidrine, educator/administrator, Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation.
