Tip of the Day — Jan. 22

Your hydrangeas look like dead sticks about now, I know. But don’t whack them back! Hydrangeas bloom on the growth from the previous year so if you trim them now you’ll cut off this year’s blooms. Go ahead and trim off the withered flower heads from last year, but wait until after the bush blooms this year to prune it, and then only if necessary.
